Lindsey Ryan - Clerk & Finance Officer

I have lived in the village since 1999 and have worked as Clerk and Finance Officer to Riccall Parish Council since 2000 (with an eighteen month break in 2005/6 when I continued as Project Manager to oversee the development of Riccall Park). My job is quite diverse and alongside the many responsibilities that the actual Council meetings bring, I meet regularly with representatives of North Yorkshire County Council, Selby District Council, North Yorkshire Police, District, County and Parish Councillors and of course Riccall residents, in an attempt to improve life in Riccall for everyone. I manage projects on behalf of the Council and also the Riccall Recreation Development Group. Over the last few years, improvements to Recreational facilities have included the addition of a fenced junior play area at Riccall Park along with an aerial slide, Kompan roundabout, teen shelter, sports wall, pre-school area and skate park. Future projects include the creation of junior football facilities on Westfield (the large piece of land next to the allotments, off Landing Lane). This project will make significant progress during 2011.

Riccall Parish Council is a very active Council, with many projects underway and planned for the future. Traffic and Highways concerns, Environmental issues, Emergency Planning and Sports provision are currently being studied in detail. Focus groups have been set up to allow residents to have their say on community matters. The Council looks regularly at planning applications in the village and reviews available housing, commercial and economic development and many other issues. The Council owns and maintains most of the streetlights in Riccall and cuts the grass on most of the verges and public recreational areas. Maintenance of the central village footpaths has recently become the responsibility of the Council and our contractor now cuts and strims back these paths to allow ease of access for residents. All of the Councillors are volunteers and as such are unpaid. Alongside me, there are three other paid members of staff, Sandra Botham - our administrative assistant, Gary Walker – our village litter collector and Gavin Wright – our Lengthsman. I am involved with all of the work of the Council and feel very privileged to be an active part of my own community.

As Clerk and Finance Officer, I am always available to speak to residents about any concerns/ difficulties and will do everything that I can to resolve problems and take information to the Council for its consideration. I tend to be in the office at the Regen Centre between 9.30am and 3pm  Monday - Thursday. If you do not catch me, then please do leave me a telephone message or email me – I will always get back to you.

Gavin Wright Web

Gavin Wright - Lengthsman

I have lived in the village for a number of years and work for Riccall Parish Council as a Lengthsman - which means that I complete lots of maintenance jobs, particularly at Riccall Park. These days, I choose to spend some of my time up in Orkney and some in Riccall but you will see me around painting the skate ramps, repairing equipment and keeping things ticking over with the play equipment.

Gary Walker

Gary Walker - Litter Collector

Hi, my name is Gary Walker; I have been 'Litter Collector' for Riccall Parish Council since April 2003.

Throughout this time, I like to think that I have carried out my work in a friendly and consistent manner. The support and appreciation that I have recieved makes the effort worthwhile - thank you!

When not working, I enjoy photography, history, various puzzles and helping out with the local drama group -'Riccallish Allsorts' - where I have played the drums for three pantos - 'oh yes I have!'....

I hope that the pleasure that you take in seeing a tidy village, is as great as mine in making it so...

Sandra Botham

Sandra Botham - Administrative Assistant

Originally from South Yorkshire, I have lived in Riccall for over 30 years, with my husband Neil and our three children.

I am looking forward to my new role within Riccall Parish Council as Administrative Assistant, working with Lindsey and the Council. The work is varied and interesting and I am keen to be more involved in community life.

My interests are spending time with family and friends and gardening. I have recently joined the Riccall Archive Group, as I am interested in local and family history. We have been involved for some time with the Charity 'Hearing Dogs for the Deaf' and currently home two former hearing dogs, Missy and Treacle.

I will be working part-time in the Council office at the Regen Centre and look forward to assisting Riccall residents.
