During the summer and particularly after good weekends, it is noticeable that the recycling bins at the Regen Centre are being used as a dumping ground for rubbish and waste accumulated at parties and BBQ’s. The bags of mixed waste have been left unsorted and open. Much of this waste has included food waste, this facility does not deal with food waste, the bins are clearly marked for glass, cans, paper & clothing. The waste must be sorted and deposited in the allocated bins, food is not accepted. Waste dumped on the floor is open to vermin and gets blown around in the wind.
Dumping of waste in this area constitutes fly-tipping and as such penalties apply.
This facility is an asset for the village residents and we don’t want to risk losing it – if it continues to be used incorrectly we do risk it being removed. The Selby DC operatives are not employed to pick up rubbish but to empty the bins. Please help to use this facility correctly and keep this community asset.

Work on the final phase of the reconstruction of Selby bypass is due to start next Wednesday. This will complete a three-phase scheme by North Yorkshire County Council carried out over the past three years to ensure the town has the bypass it needs to support its economic future.
Work is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, 9 August. The anticipated completion date is 13 October. NYCC will look at the possibility of extended working, such as night working, to shorten the timescale.
Advanced notice signs will advise motorists of the area of closure, and the diversion routes around the works will be clearly signed.
