Planning permission has now been granted for the development of junior football facilities on Westfield in Riccall. An updated feasibility study has been completed and a topographical survey of the land is taking place shortly. The Council will shortly be going out to tender for the project and applying for funding. Initial meetings with the FA have been positive and meetings with Riccall Utd Junior FC continue as the Council and the Club work together with a common aim. City of York Council is to undertake major maintenance work at the A19 between the A64 interchange and the Council boundary near Escrick. The work involves the installation of a new highway drainage system followed by reconstruction and resurfacing of the carriageway. At the same time, the carriageway will be widened at Deighton village. Work begins on 7th June and is programmed to take 16 weeks working evry day including weekends between 6am and 10pm under 24 hr temporary traffic signals. As work progresses, carriageway reconstruction and resurfacing will follow on as and when required, working Monday to Friday overnight between 9pm and 6am. In order to carry out this night time work, phased road closures will be necessary with signed diversion routes for local traffic. Cawood Bridge is closed today (13th May) between 9.30am and 3pm for emergency repairs. Local diversions are in place and pedestrian access will be maintained
