A19 / A63 Roundabout Construction


Work has now started to improve the A19/A63 junction and to construct a roundabout. Dates have been confirmed as:

24 Feb 2013 (2 weeks) Contractors on site clearing the woodland areas

11 March 2013 (10 weeks) A19/A63 junction closure from midnight Sunday 10/03/2013. Local Diversion route signed. Diversion from main trunk roads for HGV's A1, A64 and M62.

So that safety for local residents is not compromised and disruption and inconvenience kept to a minimum, the following measures will be in place:-

Contractors will be working 7 days a week from 7am to 6pm (weather permitting)

Access will be available for Turners delivery vehicles and the local farmer. Access to footbridge and pedestrian access to allotments will be maintained at all times.

24 hour site security

Access at all times through the closure zone for Emergency Services Response (Ambulance, Fire & Rescue, Police)

Barlby - 3 assisted pedestrian crossings (Barlby High School, Hawthorns, Greencore)

York Rd, Barlby & York Rd, Cliffe - 2 Temp speed matrix signs at each location

Both North Yorkshire Police, North Yorkshire County Council Trading Standards presence to monitor speeding in Barlby & Cliffe and HGV movements with a view to enforcement

The diversion routes have been inspected and any defects repaired to reduce noise / vibration

'Local Buisnesses Open as Usual' signage will be displayed

Diversion routes upgraded to Priority 1 for winter maintenance, gritting treatment

Free commuter bus to be provided from Osgodby at 9.30am travel, picking up along the route to Selby Bus Station and returning at 2.30pm 7 days a week

Temporary school crossing patrol officer at A63 at Cliffe
